Guide dogs

In 2017, the organization of the blind “North Banat Kikinda” and the Cynology Organization KOL-KI implemented an initiative for training of guide dogs to help people with visual impairment in independent movement. There are currently over 200 registered blind and partially sighted people in the city of Kikinda, and about 12,000 in Serbia.

Currently, only two blind people in Serbia move independently with a guide dog. During 2018, Anastasia and Mariana Palfi and George Petar Daraboš volunteered to help realize the first guide dog training in Serbia. The instructor of the training of the dog Rafa for the blind user, Mr. Igor Vujičić, was Professor Ilija Latinović. The training supervisors were Mr. Matijaž Zanut (Assistant Dogs Slovenia) and Mr. Tim Stafford (IGDF). After successful cooperation with the training supervisors, the idea arose to establish an organization for the training of guide dogs, “Guide Dog of Serbia”.
